Pain Relief Tea
This herbal blend is beneficial for those looking for an alternative for pain relief. Native Americans used a couple of these herbs during extremely painful times (such as childbirth). Highly recommended to use in the evening or in lighter doses during the daytime. Be aware for possible drowsiness/tranquilizing effects for some.
Ingredients Simplified:
Stinging Nettle • May help to reduce the symptoms of pain, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties. Can help to alleviate pain such as muscle pain, joint pain and headache.
Feverfew • Known to have painkilling and anti-inflammatory properties. It's been suggested that it reduces the release of an inflammatory substance, serotonin, from your blood cells and slows down the production of a chemical transmitter in your body called histamine.
Ironweed • Used for passing kidney stones, menstrual pain, stomach ulcers, tooth pain, and child birth pain. Offers a relaxing and tranquilizing effect during painful times.
Ginger • Potent anti-inflammatory. Contains salicylates, which your body transforms into a chemical substance called salicylic acid. Salicylic acid prevents your nerves making certain prostaglandins and this eases pain and discomfort.
Turmeric • Known to reduce inflammation especially with arthritis, joints, and muscles. A study has been done that shows taking only turmeric actually had similar pain relief effects to taking a prescription nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
